Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Cary Elementary. Please take a look at the opportunites listed and choose how you would like to help us out. Check back often for new listings. Also, be sure to check out the Volunteer Guidelines: Wake County has new procedures for volunteers.

It is only through the strength and dedication of our volunteers that the PTA is able to give back to the school that gives so much to our children. Be assured that we are grateful for all of your help.

Immediate Needs

  • The Book Fair committee is looking for a second volunteer to help with this project in early spring. As a volunteer for the Book Fair, you will assist Amelia Abrams with setting up, coordinating volunteers, and managing the Fair as it is in progress. The Book Fair is a very important event for the PTA, providing many books and materials for the Media Center and the classrooms. And of course, it is also important for your children, as books are the gateway to all learning.

Future Needs

Check back often for information on future volunteer opportunities.

Ongoing Needs

  • Book Stop: The Book Stop gives students an opportunity to buy books of their own using Book Bucks that they get in class. They can also trade in books for Book Bucks. As a volunteer, you will help students find books, stock shelves, and take their 'money.' The Book Stop is open several mornings every week. You can be a regular volunteer or drop by for a day. Call Kirsten Vaughn (319-1910) if you would like to help.
  • Media Center: Help in the Media center by reshelving books, putting them back in order, cleaning and repairing books, distributing overdue notices, recording new book, magazine, and video arrivals, and laminating materials for teachers. Contact Ms. Cavaco if you would like to help.

Can't make up your mind? Call our volunteer Angie Vanderbroek at 462-1501 to get on out volunteer list.

Guidelines for Volunteers

Wake County Public Schools has made it mandatory for all volunteers (classroom, media, book stop, field trips, etc.) to be registered in their new database. You may register during Open House or any school day between 8:00 A.M. and 3:30 P.M. in the Media Center.
