The instructional day at Cary Elementary begins at 8:20 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m. Each Wednesday dismissal will be at 2:00 to allow for teachers to collaborate and work in their Professional Learning Teams (PLTs). Students are permitted on campus at 8:00 a.m. There is no supervision for students prior to 8:00 a.m. unless they are enrolled in the Early Arrivals Program. Car riders and walkers will be dismissed from their classrooms at 2:59 p.m. (1:59 on Wednesdays)Bus riders will begin dismissing at 3:00 p.m. (2:00 on Wednesdays) and continue as each bus arrives on campus.
Parking spaces are in short supply at Cary Elementary! Spaces on Kildaire Farm Road are for Office Staff and short-term visitors. Visitors that are on campus for a prolonged period of time should park in the staff lot located off Faculty Drive behind the building.
Please remember that parents walking children to classrooms in the mornings must have nametags. Parents should not wait outside classroom doors for children to be dismissed in the afternoon.
All car riders should be dropped off and picked up in the traffic loop between the historic building and the newer buildings. Bus riders will use the traffic loop on Kildaire Farm Road. Daycare van riders will use the back entrance located at the staff parking lot side.
The drop-off/pick-up area is supervised morning and afternoon by staff. Please avoid using the bus/daycare van loop. Every child's safety is our prime concern. Following drop-off/pick-up lanes will promote safety.
Also, when picking up your child in the afternoon, please stay in line until your child is in your car. Staff and parents have expressed concern over the danger of a child being hit by a car when people drive around other cars to move up the carpool line.
